RAIN DATE - TBA, if we get rained out a new date, will be scheduled, and participants will be notified.
Our journey begins at the beautiful MacDowell Dam park in Peterborough NH. A soothing place where there is always a light breeze and the natural world is happy to greet you with colors, sounds and smells to delight your senses.
In this session, we ease into our re-acquaintance of the Natural World with four different meditations and exercises throughout the day. The Journey Begins is a relaxing workshop that will have you feeling at peace and energized at the end of the day.
Walking Meditation: The Walking Meditation is our first exercise and is also a very useful exercise to bring us into connection with the natural world. When we stop trying to identify and label everything we see, we can truly experience the beauty and wonder that surround us. Walking Meditation is an exercise used by modern-day druids as a beginning practice for becoming more aware of your world.
Diaphragm Breathing Exercise: “Life is but a series of breaths.” – Yogi Ramacharaka - Literally, from our first breath when we are born to our last breath when we die, is it a series of breaths that carries us on the epic odyssey we call life. Unfortunately, most of us learn to breathe backward. Meaning that we are pulling our diaphragms in when we inhale which cuts off our ability to take a full breath. We only fill the top half of our lungs which can cause us to feel anxious or listless and dragging. Learning how to breathe correctly is one of the most important things you can do, not just for your spiritual journey but also for physical and mental well-being.
Sky Meditation: Sky Meditation is very relaxing and can be fascinating depending on your individual experience. I will leave a little mystery here for you and let you wait to find out what it actually is!
Soothing the Ego Meditation: To hear the wisdom of our hearts, we need to sooth and quiet our ego. With this meditation, we are not trying to destroy our ego, but we do need to take back control of our lives and not be its slave.
LUNCH - will be under the Pavillion from 12 pm - 2 pm. This is a Picnic BYO style lunch; however, there is a grill on site, and you are welcome to use. You must bring your own grilling supplies and food.
**All sessions are outside - You need to be aware of the weather conditions and dress appropriately. SPECIAL NOTE ABOUT MACDOWELL DAM PARK - There is always a cool breeze that comes off the lake, and this causes it to be colder than usual at the park. Bring what you will need to stay warm if you get chilled while being outside.**
